Umer Farooq

Masters in Robotics and Intelligent Machine Engineer
(Technology Spirits, Nominators), Pakistan

Umer Farooq is our alumni of Batch 2008 from the ECE Department, SS-CASE-IT, Pakistan. He completed his undergraduate studies with a fully-funded merit-based scholarship in 2012 with a Gold Medal, later on he pursued his Masters from the Department of Robotics and Intelligent Machine Engineer NUST. His research topic was to develop a wearable instrument to produce a 3D Imaginary of Brain Activity using FNIRS.

He is currently working as a CTO at his third company called “Technology Spirits” which provided custom made solutions for international industries in Germany, Hong Kong, UK, and South Korea. His company provides solutions in various domains such as Embedded Systems, AI and Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Web Development, Mobile, and Cloud solutions. Currently, there are 24 people employed in Technology Spirits.

Professional Achievements

Robotics Workshops:He has conducted more than 100+ workshops and seminars throughout Pakistan under the flagship of RoboSprint which was one of the largest robotics events conducted by CASE Robotics Group.

Startups: He has founded three startups since 2013. One of them is a very popular social entrepreneurship startup known as “Robominors” founded in 2016 which is a STEM-based Academy for Kids. Currently, more than 1500 students have graduated from Robominors learning various courses such as Robotics, Programming, Web Development, Internet of Things, DIY Science and Arts, and various other courses. The company is working with different schools in designing integrated STEM Curriculum.

Mentorship: He has mentored various teams that have represented Pakistan at First Lego League which holds at USA every year. Only one team from every country is allowed to participate in the event. He was the mentor of the first two teams that represented Pakistan at USA in the Robotics Olympics as well.
